Second Month at RedEye

July 24th - August 24th 2019

Throughout my second month at RedEye, I began working on the RedEye's internal programme called 'Contour'. My manager Chris taught me how to set up an email campaign and how we use Contour to segment customers and send them relevant emails. I learnt that there are many factors to be considered before setting an email live (setting up the campaign, segmentation, testing and peer reviews). Before I can do this for an actual client, Chris set me some practice email set ups to complete.

Alongside this, I have also spent this month practising my coding skills. I have been coding some emails (with the help of Chris). I have been using Code Academy to support this. I have found this part to my job interesting and look forward to progressing with my coding. I have even worked independently on email builds for clients - which is interesting. Chris will then sit with me and talk through what I need to do next.

I have begun communication with my clients (mainly introducing myself and answering simple questions). I also join in weekly status calls with my clients, so I have an understanding of what's going on. I have been watching Chris answer and build emails, this has allowed me to understand my role a bit better.

It's not just Chris that trains me, but other members of the CS team too! I attend several different training sessions a week, each hosted by different members. This works well, as each member of the team has different knowledge and experiences. I am learning something new everyday!

Furthermore, I have been studying design briefs for some of my clients. I spoke to the design team about this. Basically it involves the client sending over a design brief, which the design team create. After the client is satisfied with the design, the Client Services team build the email.

Overall, this month has been very interesting and I've learnt lots of things I didn't know before.
